The Pallottine Sisters own and operate the Pallottine Renewal Center. Since the Center's beginning, over 150,000 persons have experienced the Pallottine tradition of hospitality -- a tradition that dates back over 170 years. Pallottine Sisters were founded in 1835 by St. Vincent Pallotti. Their mission is to awaken faith and enkindle love in people's lives. Through the Pallottine Renewal Center, the Sisters continue to work toward fulfilling this mission.

Pallottine Sisters in St. Louis
Several Pallottine Sisters live near the Center while working for the Pallottine order and in our community.

Srs. Bernadita, Elizabeth, Lisa and Gail taking a break
Sr. Gail Borgmeyer was born in St. Charles but grew up in West Virginia. She currently serves as Provincial for the Pallottine Sisters in the United States.
Sr. Bernadita Peterson grew up on a farm in central Illinois. She was the long-time director of the Renewal Center, but for health reasons she is now serving as director emeritus, assisting as needed and making sure her flowers and the grounds are well cared for.
Sr. Lisa Wiese grew up in Florissant, just across Old Halls Ferry from the Center. She has taught art at St. John the Baptist High School and at Bishop Healey, both in St. Louis. She now teaches art classes in her studio at Pallottine, where she also creates some great pottery for liturgical and home use.
Sr. Lena May grew up in Kentucky and is a Wildcats fan. She has taught Spanish at DuBourg High School but now is vocation director for the sisters.
Also living near Pallottine is Sr. Elizabeth (novice)
The Florissant, MO, area near the Renewal Center is also the location of a convent, provincialate and formation house.
Formation is used to describe those who are preparing to become professed sisters -- or to take their vows. It has three levels: postulancy, canonical novitiate, and apostolic novitiate.
Postulants (first-year-lookers) live in a house on our property and participate in the life of our work and community.
Canonical novices begin their year in August. It is during this year that the novices receive their title of "sister" but they wear no special dress and take no vows -- meaning that they are free to leave at any time. This is a more intense year where their work is interior and not exterior. They take more time to deepen their prayer life and to center more energy on community living.
Apostolic novices are away a lot doing ministry in our other houses to practice living what they have learned -- prayer, vows, community and ministry, prior to making a commitment to us through profession of vows. However, they return at Christmas, Easter and summer to take time to sort their experiences, to take advantage of the quiet of the renewal center and to prepare more intensely for the profession of first vows in August.
